I've slowly been decorating, but knew from the beginning that I wanted to have shelves to feature different items instead of (perhaps) hanging one or two big items. I have collected a ton of concert poster (mostly Wilco) over the years but didn't want that to be the focal point of the room. Over time I collected/purchased/pulled out of storage some awesome pieces:
- AmericanaramA Concert Poster - This concert was amazing! Wilco is my favorite band, and a close, close second is My Morning Jacket. Earlier in the summer I was getting really anxious that neither had announced a summer tour yet. FINALLY, it was announced they'd be touring together for a mini-festival and the headliner would be the one-and-only Bob Dylan; yes please! We got amazing tickets, dead center and 2nd row. The people in front of us didn't even show up til Bob Dylan was set to go on so I'd say really we were front row for most of it. Definitely a concert I'll always remember.
- Elliott Smith by Autumn de Wilde - A great book about a great musician; tragedy that his life ended so early. The book is written by his friend and photographer.
- 'Jersey Girl' by Bruce Springsteen 45 - I'll always be a Jersey Girl, and I'll always be a Bruce Springsteen girl. This was a good find at the Princeton Record Exchange.
- Font/Typography Illustration - 'You know it's that feeling you get when you find that one perfect font that you've been searching for forever and a day.' I love fonts and typography and it really is the best feeling when you find a font!
- Metal Print of Louie - Because I can never have too many pictures of my dog. This photograph is printed on metal, gives a nice effect.
- 'C' Wood Letter - This was a birthday present, I can't get enough of wooden letters. This was an awesome find on etsy.com, Edie's Lab.
- Royal Tenenbaums' Mini-Prints - I love this movie. I have shirts quoting this movie, I made a shirt, I did two art projects based around this movie. Spoke Art has this great art exhibit called 'Bad Dads'. They also have a lot of artist that do Wes Anderson inspired art.
Now it's time to fill out the little collection I've amassed. I'm thinking I need a clock in the office, and that would fill up the empty space quite nicely. Suggestions?
Where did you get those shelves? I want to do something similar in my family room!
ReplyDeleteNice! I like the floating shelves, lets you switch stuff out easily and don't have to go crazy aligning frames. I got them at ... Ikea!
