I love a simple costume that you can throw together with 90% of stuff you already own and spend less than $10 on the rest. The past few years I haven't dressed up (no parties, no fuss) and a few years ago I went as the clever, but cop-out, costume of a 'ceiling fan' (imagine a baseball team called the ceilings and I'm a fan). Yeah, I did that two years in a row.
It's hard to believe that as a kid I went from loving Halloween and getting dressed up to rather sitting on the couch with the lights out, not handing out candy, and watching my quota of scary movie for the year; which is (1) by the way. As a kid I was a huge American Girl fan and each year the magazine had awesome ideas for costumes. And god bless my mom, even with two other siblings and it being her birthday, she would put together these amazing costumes together for me.
This year at work everyone agreed to dress up so I opted to pick something else other than my 'ceiling fan' costume. I went on Pinterest and searched away. Contenders were a scarecrow, bank robber, Where's Wanda (a la Where's Waldo), and Rosie the Riveter. As I owned 3 out of 4 items I needed, I was sold.
- One - Chambray Shirt: You know you have one in your closet, doesn't matter if it's light or dark
- Two - Red Bandana: Any random one will do. I purchased mine from Etsy.com
- Three - Red Lipstick: Again, anything will do. This color so happens to be 'Certainly Red' by Revlon
- Four - Jeans: Whatever style, whatever color
- I topped it all off with a awesome 40's style hair-due. This was the tutorial I followed.
I think you should wear red lipstick every day. It looks SO good on you!
